Question & Answer

How many Oxygen atoms are required for the complete oxidation of half of a Glucose molecule?

Solution:

1 glucose molecule requires 6 oxygen molecule for complete oxidation to get 6 carbon dioxide and 6 water molecule along with ATP molecule.

However, for complete oxidation of half of a glucose molecule requires half of 6 oxygen molecule (i.e. 3 oxygen molecule), which results into getting of half of 6 carbon dioxide (i.e. 3 carbon dioxide molecule) and half of 6 water molecule (i.e. 3 water molecule) along with half ATP molecule.

Moreover, as it is asked in terms of oxygen atom then answer will be 3×2=6, as one oxygen molecule has 2 oxygen atom.
