What is NEET?
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET, formerly known as the All-India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) is the only national (all India) level medical entrance examination, for students wishing to study medical course (MBBS and BDS) in government/private medical & dental colleges respectively. The undergraduate NEET (UG), for MBBS and BDS courses, is currently conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) annually. Recently both AIIMS and JIPMER MBBS examinations have also been merged with NTA NEET. Therefore, currently NEET is the only gateway for admission to medical courses in India.
NEET 2024 is a pen-and-paper mode (offline) exam that covers Physics, Chemistry, and Biology syllabi from class 11 and 12 textbooks and is conducted in 13 different Indian languages. The official confirmation of when will NEET 2024 be conducted is yet to be announced. Any latest update on NEET 2024 exam date will be updated here.
NEET (UG) 2024 Important Dates:
NEET is usually conducted in the month of May/June every year. The examination date is set and announced by NTA. The result is declared after a month of completion of the exam.

NEET Eligibility Criteria
1. Students must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination by scoring qualifying marks in English, Physics, Biology and Chemistry as core subjects from a recognized board. Candidates who are appearing for the class 12 or equivalent exam are also eligible to apply for NEET.
2. Required marks to qualify NEET is 50%, for OBC/SC/ST category is 40% and PWD category is 45%.
3. Minimum age required to qualify is 17 years and there is no upper age limit as per the interim order of Supreme Court recently.
4. There is no limit on the number of attempts a student can make. The cap on the number of attempts for NEET was removed in 2018.
5. Candidates who are Indian Nationals, Non-resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizenship of India (OCIs), Person of Indian Origin (PIOs) & Foreign Nationals are eligible to apply.

NEET is an offline pen and paper based examination carrying total 180 questions and 720 marks. Question and mark distribution is given below –

Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
Exam Duration: Total duration of NEET exam is 3 hours.
Marking Scheme: +4 marks is awarded for each correct answer while 1 mark is deducted for every wrong answer. It is not mandatory to attempt all questions. There is no negative marking for unattempted questions.

How to Apply for NEET?
1. Visit NTA official website and fill the online application form and note down the Application Number for future reference.
2. Upload required documents in jpg/jpeg format as per specified size –
– Scanned image of the Passport size Photograph (10Kb to 200Kb)
– Scanned image of Signature (4Kb to 30Kb)
– Scanned image of Left Hand Thumb Impression (10Kb to 50Kb)
– Scanned image of Class 10th Certificate (100Kb to 300Kb)
– Scanned image of Post Card size Photograph(50Kb to 300Kb)
3. Make fee payment online and print confirmation page after successful remittance of fee.
